About

Transcendentalist Television is a live talk show and web channel created by The New Transcendentalists; Alex Grubard and Dan Tovrov.

New Transcendentalism is a movement and collective started in Concord MA, birth place of the original Transcendentalism, and artistic greats like Henry David Thoreau, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Bronson Alcott, Alex Grubard, and Dan Tovrov. Our goal is to take the ideas of Transcendentalism and transform them to fit in the 21st century, to rewrite the works of that brief moment in American philosophical history to use and make sense of in the realm of comedy and postmodernity.

The Credo of The New Transcendentalists:

The New Transcendentalists will never subscribe to any one credo or philosophy. We strive to remain open to any, and all, beliefs and absolutes, in order to destroy and reinterpret them for our own personal use.

The most important tenants of the New Transcendentalists are:
Art – in all its forms and reincarnations
Comedy – as an Art
Thought
Reflection – self, personal, but importantly, of all and for all
Originality
To Take Irreverence Seriously
To Be Serious about Nothing
To Make the Old New
To Expose Hypocrisy
To Embrace Irony and Contradiction
Travel – to never remain in one place; physically, mentally, spiritual, ideologically, academically, artistically
Inclusion of All
To Shatter Convention, Break Rules (for Law doesn’t exist) in order to rebuild from the ruble of old ideas and rebuilt them with art at their center (the art that was previously abandoned)
To Become Citizen of the Void Created by that Abandonment
